Woodstock Man Sentenced to Life with Parole for Violent Domestic Assault Following Child’s 911 Call

A Cherokee County man has been given a life sentence with the possibility of parole after a child’s 911 call led to his conviction on multiple domestic violence charges. FOX5 Atlanta reports that 47-year-old Larry Ray Holt, a resident of Woodstock, stood trial for a violent incident that occurred on July 3, 2024, which ended up in a child calling for help. Superior Court Judge Shannon Wallace sentenced Holt after his conviction on charges including kidnapping with bodily injury and aggravated battery.

Details shared by WSB Radio add that the jury found Holt guilty after evidence unveiled actions of punching, kicking, and dragging a woman by the hair. The brutal episode was not only heard but witnessed by a 10-year-old girl, who courageously reached out to authorities. Holt’s defense suggested during trial that the woman’s injuries could have been the result of an accidental fall.

Prosecutors didn’t buy into the accidental narrative, with Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Rachel Ashe describing the assault as “no accident.” “During the trial, the defendant attempted to downplay the violence inflicted that night, even suggesting the woman’s injuries were due to an accidental fall,” Ashe told FOX5 Atlanta. “This was a brutal assault that left lasting trauma on both the victim and the child who witnessed it.” Judge Wallace followed prosecutors’ recommendation, sentencing Holt to serve a minimum of 30 years before becoming eligible for parole…
