A heat advisory has been issued for all of Central Georgia, with heat index values expected to reach up to 106 degrees. The advisory is in effect from 1 P.M. Tuesday to 8 P.M. Wednesday EDT.
The National Weather Service warned that the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity could lead to heat-related illnesses. It will also be dangerous for those in certain communities like the elderly or those without A/C.
Even our morning lows won’t offer much relief being in the low 70’s. Most will be above this due to the humidity meaning most will be in the upper 70’s and even a few in the 80’s.
Residents are urged to take precautionary measures, including drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned spaces, avoiding the sun, and checking on relatives and neighbors.
