ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The Acworth Police Department says investigators recently got a call from a man in New Jersey who said his 79-year-old father had mailed thousands of dollars to an Acworth address to “invest in gold.”
“He was concerned because of the large amount of cash that was sent and believed that it was a possible type of mail scheme that was going on,” Sgt. Eric Mistretta said.
Acworth police got to work and contacted the U.S. Postal Service. They were able to intercept the package, which had about $5,000 inside, before it reached its final destination…
