MABLETON — Dancers and a marching band accompanied hundreds of community members, elected officials and local leaders as they gathered to hear Mayor Michael Owens give the inaugural State of the City address.
The address focused on the city’s progress and growth since its incorporation in May 2023, the financial stability of the city and plans for the city’s future success.
“Let me say here at the outset, from the very beginning, let me say the state of our city is strong,” Owens said. “The spirit of the people of Mableton is even stronger. We are unshakable. The future of Mableton is as bright as we choose it to be. And, as honored as I am to say that I’m the first mayor of the city of Mableton, my mission has never been about being the first. My goal has always been to make sure I’m not the last. Because the truth is, this hasn’t been easy. This has been a tough journey.”…
