Family demands justice at rally after no charges in 21-year-old’s shooting death in Douglas County

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — Community members stood with a grieving mother on Saturday to fight for justice for her 21-year-old son, who was killed earlier this year.

After a man admitted to killing her son, Malachi Mitchell, who was found shot dead in a car during a January traffic stop, the Douglas County district attorney announced no charges would be filed. The driver, who was stopped for a traffic violation, drove around with Mitchell’s lifeless body in the passenger seat.

The district attorney stated that the driver acted in self-defense, but Malachi Mitchell’s mother, Kenya Mitchell, believes otherwise…
