Jessica L. Potter, 34, of Statham, is accused of vehicular homicide after striking a pedestrian while operating a 2016 Kia Soul on July 19 at 9:52 p.m. in the area of Cobb Parkway SE and Lake Park Drive SE southbound, according to an arrest warrant from the Smyrna Police Department.
Potter fatally struck Todd Murphy, who was in the center turn lane near the intersection. Potter was believed to be under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs. She submitted to the state administered chemical test of her blood. Upon receiving the GBI test results, it was discovered that she had a .028 BAC (blood alcohol content). Potter also had Quetiapine and Sertraline in her system at the time of the crash, according to the warrant.
Potter is charged with homicide by vehicle – first degree. She was arrested on Oct. 29 at 7:40 p.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records…
