“Heartwarming:” Marietta honors veterans with parade

MARIETTA — Mariettans, their families, friends and those looking to honor veterans lined Roswell Street and the Marietta Square to celebrate the city’s service members during the annual Veterans Day parade Saturday.

Hosted by the Horace Orr American Legion Post 29 and the city of Marietta, the parade aimed to honor all of those who have served.

The parade, marshaled by 106-year-old World War II Army veteran Charlie Duncan, began at Roswell Street Baptist Church around 10:40 a.m., with a goal of reaching the Marietta Square at 11:11 a.m. to recognize the signing of the armistice treaty that ended World War I…
