SWEETWATER, Tenn. (WATE) — Amid a bank fraud investigation in Sweetwater, law enforcement officers arrested at least two suspects and later learned that one was wanted in Atlanta, Georgia in connection to a bank robbery that happened earlier this month.
Sweetwater Police said detectives began investigating the bank fraud case with incidents that happened between November 6 and 8 on Monday, November 10 in collaboration with the Vonore Police Department. After identifying a suspect and vehicle, detectives shared the information with other law enforcement agencies in the area.

According to Sweetwater Police, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle in the case, which had three people inside. After a brief foot chase with one suspect, all three were taken into custody.
Police said the primary suspect, Eddie Montgomery, was served with felony warrants but later found to be wanted out of Atlanta in connection to an early November bank robbery. He was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service and returned to Georgia.
The suspect who reportedly fled from deputies, identified by Sweetwater Police as Marvin Jenkins, was also linked to multiple felony offenses in Sweetwater. Additional charges were filed against him.
