Cobb reallocates $2.96M for food distribution, South Cobb Public Health Center

MARIETTA — The Cobb Board of Commissioners unanimously approved reallocations of unspent federal COVID relief money — totaling $2.96 million — to bolster local food distribution programs ahead of the holidays and support construction of the South Cobb Public Health Center.

The federal government previously approved more than $147 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) money to Cobb, distributed in two equal allocations, according to the county. The county has until the end of 2026 to obligate the funding.

At an agenda prep session, Chair Lisa Cupid told the MDJ, “Any money that we don’t spend has to be returned to the federal government.”…
