Nearly 1,000 people will be laid off from these eight locations in Georgia, WARN notices sent

Hundreds of Georgians are receiving some very bad news around the holidays.

Over the last week, the USA Today Network has received WARN Notices for multiple companies announcing various layoffs totaling just under 1,000 people losing their jobs. Here’s who we heard from:

Augusta layoffs

Doctors Hospital in Augusta informed Sodexo that it will no longer use the company for food services, so around Jan. 31, Sodexo will close its operations there and lay off 67 employees. Doctors Hospital will reportedly be providing their own services.

Savannah layoffs

Memorial Health in Savannah informed Sodexo that it will no longer use the company for food services, so around Jan. 31, Sodexo will close its operations there and lay off 120 employees. Memorial Health will reportedly be providing their own services.

More Georgia layoffs

Lehigh Technologiesin Tucker will lay off 55 employees due to the closing of its manufacturing plant. This will start Feb. 2 and run through Sept. 18.

Smurfit Westrockin Atlanta will lay off 55 employees around Jan. 5. No information was provided on why…
