Man arrested at Cumberland hotel on fentanyl trafficking charge

Daimone Cornell Smith, 42, of Atlanta, is accused of trafficking fentanyl on Nov. 15 at 8:20 p.m. at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Atlanta-Galleria/Cumberland, 3200 Cobb Parkway SE in Atlanta, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.

Smith was found in possession of 8 grams of fentanyl, 13 grams of suspect crack cocaine, 3 grams of powered cocaine, .02 grams of methamphetamine, seven individual 2mg Alprazolam pills, 3 grams of marijuana, a glass pipe with a bowl on one end that contained the residue of burnt narcotics, and a SCCY 9mm handgun – which was illegal since he was convicted of a felony on Aug. 22, 2023, in Fulton County Superior Court. Smith also gave police a fake name and birth date intending to mislead the officer, according to the warrant.

Smith is charged with trafficking fentanyl; intent to distribute cocaine; possession of cocaine; possession of methamphetamine; possession; possession firearm felon Georgia; possession of firearm during the commission of a crime; possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana; possession and use of drug related object – misdemeanor; and giving false name/date of birth. He was arrested on Nov. 15 at midnight and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records…
