Woman hospitalized after shooting at East Atlanta Village homeless encampment, police say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A 48-year-old woman is hospitalized fighting for her life after being shot at a homeless encampment in East Atlanta Village Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened shortly before 7:30 a.m. near the corner of Moreland Avenue SE and Metropolitan Avenue SE, according to Atlanta Police. Officers cordoned off the area for several hours while investigators questioned witnesses, collected evidence, and brought in a police dog.

The victim was alert, conscious and breathing when paramedics took her to Grady Memorial Hospital, police said. She is not being cooperative with the investigators…
