Driver leads officer on overnight chase in Douglas County, gets away on foot after PIT maneuver

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A driver in Douglas County overnight led an officer on a chase, the Georgia State Patrol reported, then got away on foot after a PIT maneuver stopped the car.

GSP said in a statement that the unidentified driver initiated the chase around 3:15 a.m. when a Department of Public Safety commercial vehicle enforcement officer attempted to stop a stolen Toyota Rav 4 on I-20 at Fairburn Road.

The driver “quickly accelerated initiating a pursuit” GSP said, and “drove recklessly and disregarded the safety of the public during the pursuit.”…
