MARIETTA, GA — Asher & Rose Grocers plans to open January 19 at 45 W Park Square, Marietta, GA 30060, co-owner Greg Lipman told Business Debut. Lipman and his mother, Betty Bahl, recently closed their longtime Marietta Square restaurant, Piastra, and are converting the space into a specialty grocery store with a cafe and bar.
What to Expect
Asher & Rose is designed as a grocery store first, with counter-order cafe service and a full-service bar. When guests walk in, they’ll see grocery and market offerings on one side and cafe seating on the other, with the bar visible from the entrance. The team plans to keep the former private dining room, which seats up to 40, along with a cafe area of about 20 seats.
Menu and Vision
Lipman said the concept is “kind of like Trader Joe’s,” but centered on in-house production, including a butcher, baker, and a prepared foods program. “All the prepared foods will be made in house,” he told Business Debut, including items for a prepared foods counter plus refrigerated and frozen cases.
Shoppers can expect local produce and local meats, along with seafood and boutique grocery items selected in a smaller assortment. Lipman also plans to continue Piastra’s gluten-free program, including house made gluten-free breads, pastas, and pizza crusts, with special orders available…
