‘Common’: Georgia Man Driving Stolen Car Pockets 4 More Sets of Keys Inside Dealership

This was one cocky crime attempt. On New Year’s Day, a suspect casually strolled through an Atlanta-area car dealership, pocketing keys to new rides along the way. Authorities warn it is a more common crime than many drivers might think.

Police say the suspect arrived at Atlanta Unique Auto Sales driving a car stolen from nearby Doraville, Georgia. He walked into the busy dealership in broad daylight, located a container holding vehicle keys, and took four sets.

Why police say this happens more often than you’d expect

Cpl. Angela Carter explained the tactic. “It’s common for individuals that do steal cars to come to businesses during regular business hours, swipe the keys, trying to do it without being noticed, and then coming back when the business is closed and stealing the cars at night time.”…
