Man charged with armed robbery at Woodstock jewelry store

A man has been arrested and charged with committing an armed robbery at a jewelry store in Woodstock Sunday, police announced.

According to the Woodstock Police Department, officers responded just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday to a 911 call reporting an armed robbery and jewelry stolen at Kay Jewelers at The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta on Ridgewalk Parkway in Woodstock. Officers met with store employees and determined the suspect, John Mendoza, 26, of Lithia Springs, left the area in a dark sedan.

Officer Justin Hinkle found Mendoza near Towne Lake Parkway and Interstate 575, less than two miles from the store, police reported. Police conducted a traffic stop and took Mendoza into custody without incident. No injuries were reported…
