KENNESAW — Cobb County voters will be asked in November to renew a 6-year Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, a 1% levy Kennesaw leaders say would fund $46.77 million in projects including a new community center, road expansions and the final phase of Depot Park.
Kennesaw Mayor Derek Easterling said he doesn’t want citizens to see SPLOST as just a “tax they pay,” but as a way to help the city continue to grow and improve as the money goes toward infrastructure and safety improvements, parks, recreation, sidewalks and more.
“You’re paying a percentage of the tax, but it’s coming back to you tenfold, twenty fold. Because we’re able to offer you recreational services, venues. Doesn’t cost you anything to come to a concert at Depot Park,” he said…
