The principal of Addison Elementary School, who was arrested on driving under the influence charges last month, has resigned, the Cobb County School District confirmed Tuesday.
Principal Jill Spiva was arrested Jan. 8 and charged with misdemeanor counts of DUI, open container and failure to maintain a lane.
Just before 5 p.m., officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Ebenezer and Sandy Plains roads, less than half a mile from the school, according to Cobb Police Sgt. Eric Smith.
