A man has been charged with running a counterfeit couponing scheme at multiple stores across the metro Atlanta area, including one in Mableton, Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr reports.
The scheme in question involved the suspect, identified as Michael Justin Williams, forging and using fake coupons at the register to get discounts on packs of cigarettes.
According to his indictment, on 20 different occasions, Williams made, altered and possessed fraudulent coupons that were used to provide an unauthorized discount of $8 off packs of Newport cigarettes, reducing the cost to below $2 per pack…
