Second graders pick ‘Cobby’ as sheriff’s new friendly face

SMYRNA — Second graders at Russell Elementary School got a chance to leave their mark on the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday, helping officially name the office’s new community mascot during a lively event.

The mascot was unveiled after students submitted and voted on name ideas. After narrowing the choices down to three finalists, students selected the winning name: “Cobby the Bear.”
