Crash-prone railroad crossings in Powder Springs are under scrutiny, with city leaders considering closures or redesigns after securing federal funding for a safety study.
In January 2025, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) gave the city $800,000 through the Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant program to study railroad crossing safety upgrades, improvements or closures.
