$12K paint scheme spans five stores, ends in arrest

Nathaniel Adrian Bernal, 30, of McDonough, is accused of theft by deception at four Sherwin Williams locations in Cobb County and one transaction in Douglas County, according to arrest warrants from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.

Bernal purchased gallons of paint and painting supplies at the five locations using a fraudulent Sherwin Williams account, which was opened on Nov. 10, 2025, at a store in Boston, Massachusetts with a stolen identity. The total loss for Sherwin Williams across all five locations was $12,473.15, according to the warrants.

On Nov. 15, 2025, at 2:25 p.m., Bernal was seen on camera purchasing $2,339.69 of items with the fake account at the location at 3592 Marathon Circle in Austell, according to his first warrant…
