Norfolk Southern to launch Cincinnati-Atlanta intermodal service

ATLANTA — Norfolk Southern will launch new domestic intermodal service between Cincinnati and Atlanta beginning the week of May 4, the railroad has announced.

The new service is designed for both southbound and northbound traffic, and will make use of the railroad’s existing terminals and 53-foot domestic container fleet. NS says the service can support business including retail, consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, and industrial manufacturing.

Service will be offered seven days a week to and from the Austell intermodal terminal northwest of Atlanta. The railroad says schedule adjustments will provide earlier availability, creating a more competitive service while reducing terminal dwell and improving overall network fluidity…
