Gunfire Call Brings SWAT Surge To Marietta’s Vandiver Corridor

A Cobb County SWAT team rolled into a Marietta neighborhood Sunday after officers were dispatched on reports of shots fired, turning the area into an active tactical scene. Law enforcement set up a substantial perimeter around Vandiver and Rainwater drives while officers moved through the area looking for evidence and any possible suspects.

According to Atlanta News First, deputies received a call about gunfire and quickly staged a tactical unit near the Vandiver/Rainwater intersection, treating the situation as a developing incident. At the time of that report, officials had not released additional information about what triggered the response or what, exactly, officers had found.

Cobb County has put money into gunshot-detection sensors and a real-time crime center, tools that law enforcement says help pinpoint where shots are coming from and cut down response times.
