Allen man identified as one of the victims in deadly Ohio plane crash

AKRON, Ohio — The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people killed when their plane crashed into a house in Akron earlier this month.

The pilot, who officials say owned the 1963 Piper PA-28-180 aircraft, has been identified as David Garcia, 38, of Hammond, Indiana. The flight instructor in the plane has been identified as Colin Albee, 39, of Allen, Texas.

The ME’s office announced last week that it would be necessary to use DNA testing in order to identify the victims of the May 14 crash since their dental records were not available.

NTSB officials report that the 1963 Piper Cherokee took off from Akron Fulton Airport at about 2:03 p.m. on May 14 and flew roughly 30 or 40 miles south for what he described as a “training flight.”…
