Plano Police Officer Boyd honored with lifesaving award for swift response to overdose

PLANO, Texas – Officer Boyd has been recognized with a Lifesaving Award for his quick actions in responding to an overdose incident on March 30, 2024. Officer Boyd was dispatched to the 800 block of Bellflower Drive after receiving information that a 17-year-old male had overdosed on Percocet, was unresponsive, and possibly had agonal breathing, according to the Plano Police Department. Boyd arrived approximately 2.5 minutes after being dispatched and immediately administered a 4mg dose of Narcan, followed by a second dose when the subject remained unresponsive but had a pulse.
