Closing arguments begin in trial of McKinney woman accused of killing boyfriend

Closing arguments began Thursday morning in the murder trial of a McKinney woman accused of killing her boyfriend in a domestic violence case in February 2022.

Collin County prosecutors will argue that 39-year-old Lupe Faughn committed murder when she fatally stabbed 37-year-old Russell Posey. It happened two and a half years ago at a home they shared in the 1700 block of North Bradley Street, not far from U.S. Highway 75 and University Drive.

Police said they got a call about a possible domestic violence incident. By the time they got there, Posey was unconscious on the floor.

He died at a hospital and Faughn was arrested. If there’s a conviction, the case will move to a sentencing hearing.
