A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting that occurred this weekend in Richardson, police say.
Police were dispatched early Saturday morning to a reported domestic disturbance. According to police, a female officer encountered the suspect, who was reportedly armed with a large knife. Despite commands to drop the weapon, the suspect reportedly continued to advance toward the officers. The officer then fired, striking the man, who was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Neighbors expressed shock at the incident, according to KRLD’s media partner NBC 5 .
The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave while the incident is under investigation.
