Cambridge 39, Creekview 0

The Cambridge Bears used a number of big plays on both sides of the ball to run away with a 39-0 win over the Creekview Grizzies on Friday at The Bears Lair.

The Bears, who compete out of Region 6-4A, move to 3-0 under first-year coach Tyler Jones, who came to Cambridge after serving as offensive coordinator for Walton, last season’s 7A runners-up. The Bears went 6-5 last year and reached the playoffs for the fifth year in a row.

“I knew coming that we had an experienced group from last year,” Jones said. “We returned a lot of starters. Because of that, we have high expectations. We want to raise the standard. I don’t think what they did here previously was bad. We’re just trying to elevate it and take it to the next level. We challenge our kids daily. We try to be better than we were the previous day, the previous week, and that’s just what we’re going to continue to do.”

Bears senior quarterback Weston Taylor was 12 for 16 passing for 229 yards and three touchdowns. Six of those passes went for 20 or more yards and three receivers finished with more than 50 yards catching.
