Mesquite ISD teacher pleads guilty to encouraging fist fight in the classroom

The Mesquite ISD substitute teacher who encouraged a fist-fight in her classroom has pleaded guilty and there will not be any jail time.

Audio has been released of the sound of an actual fight in a Kimbrough Middle School classroom on April 12, 2023. It did not break out spontaneously. It was encouraged by teacher Natally Garcia who is heard saying…”I do not want this on record.”

She posted a student lookout at a classroom door, then let the two kids go at it. Garcia has pleaded guilty to the state jail felony of endangering children under age 15.

She was put on two years probation, meaning she won’t go to jail. Garcia will lose her teaching license.
