The makers of the board game Monopoly have unveiled a customized edition for Denton. The board features local landmarks and businesses.
The Denton-specific locations replace those on squares normally used for Atlantic City locations like “Park Place” and “Boardwalk”.
The cards used for the game’s Community Chest and Chance drawings also feature material specific to Denton.
“We appreciate all those who suggested landmarks, organizations, and businesses that make Denton unique and truly special,” said Sarah Bowman with game maker Top Trumps USA.
Denton Mayor Gerard Hudspeth, Police Chief Jessica Robledo and business leaders gathered at Quakertown Park on Tuesday to celebrate the release of the game.
The Monopoly – Denton Edition will be available through major on-line retailers like Amazon, national chain stores including CVS, and Denton’s own Recycled Books, Records and CDs on the downtown square.
