The Plano Police Department took to social media to regretfully inform the public of the line-of-duty death of Deputy Ruben Garcia from Cameron County Precinct 1. According to the Plano Texas Police Department, Deputy Garcia’s vehicle was struck by a distracted driver on Monday, and he passed away the same day after being taken to a Brownsville hospital. The Plano Police Chief, Ed Drain, expressed the department’s sorrow and called for the community to keep Garcia’s family, friends, and coworkers in their thoughts and prayers.
