The Tornado Watch has been cleared up since 5:30 p.m. Monday for most of North Texas. Only Canton, Sulphur Springs, and Paris Texas are still under a Tornado Watch until 8 tonight. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for parts including Dallas, Ellis, Johnson, and Lamar County until 5:15 pm.
Monday began with cloudy and windy conditions, and temperatures in the low to mid-70s with a ton of humidity.
A strong storm system in the upper levels of the atmosphere cruised through New Mexico on Monday morning. As it shoots northeast into western Oklahoma, it will drag a dryline and eventually a cold front into the area through the evening hours. This coupled with plenty of surface moisture and daytime heating will produce widespread shower and thunderstorm activity across North Texas from late morning to afternoon.
As a day wears on, this area showers and storms will intensify, especially along and east of a McKinney to Dallas to Waxahachie line. These are the areas that have the greatest chance for large hail, damaging wind, and isolated tornadoes.
