Texas Health Plano set to add 230-400 beds with new eight-story care tower by 2028

Plano, Texas – Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano has revealed plans for a major expansion project involving the building of a six-story parking garage and a new eight-story patient care tower. This $343 million investment is meant to fulfill the rising healthcare needs of the community.

Designed to start in the summer of 2025 and expected to be completed in the fall of 2028, the new patient care tower will be situated on the eastern end of the hospital site, currently housing parking facilities and a helipad. The helipad will be moved to the roof of the new building so that managing emergency situations remains efficient.

Texas Health Plano president Fraser Hay expressed satisfaction in the hospital’s tradition and dedication to growing its range of services.

“For 33 years, we have served this community, and it is with great honor that we undertake this expansion to meet the health needs of our consumers through every stage of their lives for many more decades,” said Hay.

When finished, the new tower will significantly improve the capacity of the hospital by adding between 230 and almost 400 licensed acute and critical care beds. With those set aside for women and infants and behavioral health, the overall bed count will climb to 563. Along with this development, a new basement will be added to link to current service corridors and house a larger pharmacy, therefore optimizing operations and enhancing service delivery.
