MESQUITE, Texas – The Mesquite Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of December 16, 2024. The incident followed a high-speed chase and resulted in one suspect being hospitalized in stable condition.According to a press release from the Mesquite Police Department, officers in the area of IH 30 and Sorrento Blvd. heard gunfire at 2:54 a.m. and soon observed a vehicle exiting Gus Thomasson Rd. at high speed. The vehicle lost control while attempting a turnaround and crashed, leading four males to flee on foot. During the pursuit, an officer shot one suspect, who was later transported to a local hospital. A firearm was recovered at the scene.The officer involved has been with the department for five years. Descriptions of the other three suspects were provided, resulting in the arrest of two additional individuals, while the fourth remains at large. Multiple firearms were found inside the suspect vehicle.The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office Public Integrity Unit has been contacted to conduct an independent review of the incident, stated the Mesquite Police Department.
