Hopkins County Arrest: Gabriel Junior Gomez Tapia Faces Drug and Theft Charges

Hopkins County, TX – Gabriel Junior Gomez Tapia, a 20-year-old male, was transported by Hopkins County Deputies on January 21, 2025, for questioning related to recent cattle thefts. The transport and questioning were part of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.

Before entering the jail’s secured facility, deputies conducted a pat-down search on Gomez Tapia. During the search, a straw was discovered inside his wallet. The straw was found to contain a white powdery substance. Upon further questioning, Gomez Tapia admitted to using the straw for cocaine consumption. He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Additional Warrant Issued

On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Hopkins County Deputies were notified that Gomez Tapia, who was already in custody at the Hopkins County Jail for the paraphernalia charge, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Gomez Tapia was served with an additional warrant for Theft of Property Valued Between $30,000 and $150,000 (Enhanced) .

He now faces both charges:

  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Theft of Property >= $30K < $150K (Enhanced)
