Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Hopkins County

HOPKINS COUNTY, Texas – A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a Sulphur Springs man on multiple charges, including drug possession, in Hopkins County.

On March 15, 2025, deputies with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle with an expired registration traveling northbound on State Highway 19. The driver, later identified as Seddrick Dejaun Berry, 50 , was stopped near County Road 4588.

During the stop, deputies witnessed an item being thrown out of the passenger-side window before the vehicle came to a complete stop. Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside. A subsequent search led to the discovery of a baggie containing a green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana, in the area where the object was thrown…
