Infrastructure Enhancement: Major I-30 Updates Promise Smoother Commutes in Rockwall County

Major updates are underway along Interstate 30 as construction progresses on Segment 2 (Dalrock to SH 205) and Segment 3 (SH 205 to FM 2642). According to the Rockwall County government website, the westbound Frontage Road Bridge near Snuffer’s and Harbor Bay Marina is seeing significant developments, with drill shafts being prepared for caps and beam installation as work moves from east to west. Commuters should note that the contractor is also setting up a crossing over the railroad tracks to channel westbound Frontage Road traffic toward the bridge at Dalrock.

Horizon Bridge construction is nearing a new phase, as most caps and beams are in place for the support structure of the new first half of the bridge. Poised to complete just one more span of beams, the contractor will soon be ready to lay down the road deck. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has set its sights on transitioning to this new bridge section by fall, signaling the time to demolish the current use setup. In the meantime, the eastbound Frontage Road is experiencing its changes with a new asphalt layer established from Lake Point Church to the Rockwall Crossing Shopping Center, paving the way to a temporary shift set for March 30th, where traffic from Ridge to 205 will see redirection…
