Massive New Walmart Rising in Frisco, Texas: Here is The Location

Walmart is building a new Supercenter at 16600 FM 423 in Frisco, Texas. The store will be nearly 200,000 square feet, placing it among the largest Walmart locations in the state. Construction began in June 2024 and is expected to wrap up by August 1, 2025. It will become the fifth Walmart in Frisco, reinforcing how much commercial demand this fast-growing city continues to generate.

The new store is rising just across the street from the recently completed H-E-B near the intersection of FM 423 and US 380. Together, the two anchors are reshaping the area into a busy retail corridor. Until a few years ago, this part of town still had empty tracts of land and scattered development. That’s changed fast.

From Farmland to Foundation Work

Looking back, this section of FM 423 remained rural through the early 2000s. In 2001, the site now under construction was still open pastureland with just a few scattered homes nearby. There were no commercial buildings, no paved intersections, and very little traffic.

By 2018, the area started showing signs of growth. Residential streets pushed in from the east and south, and groundwork began for a few small commercial buildings. H-E-B arrived first. By 2023, it was nearly complete, and across the street, Walmart’s site had been cleared. By September 2024, visible foundation work had begun.

Frisco’s Growth Is Fueling This Boom
