Bogata Man Arrested in Hopkins County After Meth and False ID Discovery

HOPKINS COUNTY, TX — A man originally identified as “Gene Walker” turned out to be Wesley Mills, a 64-year-old from Bogata, Texas, who was taken into custody after deputies discovered he was using a false identity and carrying methamphetamine.

On March 29, 2025, around 7:23 PM, Hopkins County deputies responded to a location in the 500 block of Cranford Street to investigate a wanted individual. Deputies encountered a man who claimed to be Gene Walker but lacked proper identification and exhibited suspicious behavior. Deputies quickly identified inconsistencies and noticed that the individual was missing part of his right index finger—a detail that matched the real suspect, Wesley Mills.
