HAWKINS, Texas — In a tragic and disturbing case, a Hawkins man has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly shooting another man during a custody exchange—while holding his young child.
According to an affidavit from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 11:52 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2025. Law enforcement responded to a scene on N. Beaulah Street where they found 28-year-old Mitchell Wayne Palmer lying deceased in a dirt driveway.
