Hopkins County Man Arrested After Assault Incident Involving Girlfriend
Brashear, Texas – On April 27, 2025, deputies with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office arrested Larry Jake Newberry, 56, following a domestic disturbance call at a residence in Brashear.
According to the affidavit, deputies responded to a disturbance involving Newberry and his girlfriend. Reports state that the altercation began when the girlfriend poured Newberry’s beer down the sink. During the argument, Newberry allegedly struck her in the chest with his elbow.
Deputies noted an overwhelming odor of alcohol coming from Newberry at the scene. After speaking with the victim and observing evidence consistent with the allegations, deputies arrested Newberry on charges of Assault Family Violence (MA)…
