PLANO—After surrendering a double and a home run in Game 1 of its Class 6A Division I regional semifinal series on Wednesday, followed by a double in her first at-bat of Game 2 on Friday, Euless Trinity decided it was done pitching to Plano East senior Jadyn Dawson.
The Lady Trojans opted to intentionally walk the Lady Panthers’ power hitter over her final three at-bats on Friday and managed to navigate that decision with success the first two tries—retiring the next three East batters to get out of each inning unscathed.
On the third time, however, the Lady Panthers managed to break through. It came in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs and two runners in scoring position. One swing of the bat later by senior Kylie Grant, and East had its second walk-off victory of the postseason—overtaking Trinity 3-2 to sweep the third-round series and secure the program’s first regional finals berth since 2012…
