Texas Oncology Breaks Ground on $120M Flagship and Medical City’s New CMO

Texas Oncology broke ground on a $120 million flagship facility in Plano. It will be the city’s first full-service Texas Oncology center. Texas Oncology has four locations, which will be consolidated into one spot so patient care can be more efficient and comprehensive. The 100,000 sq. feet facility is scheduled to be ready by December 2026, and will be on Village Creek drive, across Preston Road from Baylor Scott & White and their heart hospital. It is a collaboration between Texas Oncology, medical construction firm McCarthy, and Cottonwood Development Partners to bring comprehensive cancer care under one roof.

Medical City Healthcare has named Dr. Alan Harmatz as its Chief Medical Officer. Originally trained as a plastic surgeon, Harmatz is leaving is old role as the CMO for Medical City in Dallas, where he managed doctors at Medical City Children’s Hospital, the MC heart hospital, and its spinal facility. HE was previously the CMO for parent company Medical City Healthcare’s parent company HCA Healthcare’s Florida Brandon Hospital, where he developed a medical complication reduction software now used across the HCA system. In his new role, he will lead the clinical work of the system’s 22 hospitals and 5,000 physicians.

Signify Bio raised $15 million from the Gates Foundation Strategic Investment Fund, the American Cancer Society’s venture capital arm, among other investors.
