Dallas-based developer Huffines Enterprises is officially underway with its newest signature project: Horizon Lakes, a 900-acre master-planned community in McLendon-Chisholm.
Phase I of the community will bring 1,650 home sites to market, along with an amenity center overlooking the lake. Builders CastleRock Communities, Pulte Homes, and Toll Brothers have signed on, and the first home sites are expected to deliver in 2027. The community is located at 1511 Pullen Road, with financing provided by Trez Capital.
“We’re delighted to begin work on Horizon Lakes,” said Don Huffines, who leads the private development firm. “This outstanding community is in place to take advantage of the eastward-moving DFW growth and will offer multiple home options and amenities for families interested in a more relaxed and nature-driven lifestyle.”
At full buildout, Horizon Lakes will include approximately 1,800 homes priced from the low $500,000s to $2 million. Designed for move-up buyers, the community will include scenic hike-and-bike trails, recreational lake access, multiple parks, and an amenity center with a fitness center, adult and children’s pools, and pickleball courts. Plans also call for an outdoor amphitheater and a large gathering space for private events.
“This project requires an experienced and thoughtful team approach,” said Grant Morrow, managing director of U.S. origination at Trez Capital. “Huffines understands both the market and the fundamentals of community building, and we look forward to another successful partnership.”…
