The Frisco Police Department has announced the apprehension of a capital murder suspect following a traffic stop gone awry. On Wednesday, an officer pulled over a vehicle on the 300 block of Stonebrook Parkway, only to have one passenger, later identified as 21-year-old Jonathan Elizalde of Dallas, flee the scene on foot.
Upon smelling marijuana emanating from the vehicle, the officer had requested the occupants to step out, while waiting for additional police force to arrive, during which the suspect broke into a sprint. A handgun and marijuana were discovered inside the vehicle, a discovery that set the stage for an amplified manhunt involving drones and patrol officers in the surrounding neighborhood.
According to a public release from the City of Frisco, their search came to a close after a local resident reported an intruder jumping their fence, leading to Elizalde’s discovery and capture concealed beneath some bushes close by.
