Hopkins County, TX – A 55-year-old Marietta woman was arrested Saturday night after allegedly driving while intoxicated and nearly striking a Hopkins County deputy’s vehicle, according to an arrest report.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) and a Hopkins County deputy conducted the traffic stop around 9:03 p.m. on July 19, 2025, near mile marker 127 on Interstate 30 westbound. Authorities had been alerted to a reckless driver in a gray Honda Civic, later identified as Tamara Dennard Dreger. Dispatch reported the vehicle had been swerving in and out of traffic and posing a danger to other drivers.
According to the affidavit, a Hopkins County deputy spotted Dreger’s vehicle drifting within its lane before almost striking the deputy’s patrol vehicle as officers initiated the stop. During the stop, Dreger admitted to taking medication but denied consuming alcohol or illegal substances.
