SVAL, which operated as Aim Diagnostic Laboratory in McKinney, experienced a surge in business following the COVID-19 pandemic, offering “no-cost” COVID-19 tests nationwide that could be shipped directly to patients. But according to a federal indictment, many of those tests were sent to patients who never wanted them, and the taxpayer picked up much of the bill. Gary Martin, who was indicted in June, was a managing member of SVAL.
