K9 Alert on Sulphur Springs Traffic Stop Leads to Two Meth Arrests in Drug‑Free Zone

SULPHUR SPRINGS, TX — A Saturday traffic stop resulted in two arrests near downtown Sulphur Springs on August 16, 2025 at approximately 12:27 p.m. Officers with the Sulphur Springs Police Department (SSPD) stopped a brown GMC Sierra pickup in the 600 block of Gilmer Street and requested a Hopkins County K‑9 unit after consent to search was denied, according to arrest affidavits.

The K‑9 gave a positive alert and officers searched the vehicle and immediate area. Investigators reported locating a clear plastic bag containing a crystal‑like substance believed to be methamphetamine and an unknown blue pill on the ground within the immediate area of two passengers.
