Frisco students create nonprofit, donate 6K clothing items

Two Liberty High School students, Eli Kim and Amit Jennings, turned an idea into a movement of compassion when they founded Wear It Forward, a student-led nonprofit that has donated more than 6,000 clothing items—worth over $90,000—to The Storehouse Community Center in less than a year.

What began in early 2025 with a few front-porch pickups has grown into a multi-school operation across Frisco, Allen, Plano and McKinney, with two chapters, 15-plus student volunteers, and partnerships with seven high schools and three elementary/middle schools. Their model is simple but impactful: offering home pickups, collecting unclaimed items from school lost-and-found closets, and organizing drives to make donating easier and more meaningful.

In September, they delivered 750 items to Joseph’s Coat, The Storehouse’s clothing closet, which distributed more than 130,000 articles of clothing last year to families in need. Alongside hundreds of volunteer hours spent organizing drives, promoting their cause, and building community support, the students plan to expand into Carrollton and Richardson, continuing to inspire young people to lead with purpose. Community members can support the effort by donating gently used clothing through Instagram: @wear_itforward or email [email protected]
